Chocolate Cream Pie.

The recipe for chocolate cream pie, was requested by one of our face book followers so here it is.

Ingredients:
Pie Base: 
  • 1 Packet of plain Chocolate biscuits.
  • 5-6 tablespoons of Butter/ Margarine
Pie Filling:
  • 150grams Chocolate
  • 1 tablespoon Vanilla
  • 6 Eggs
  • 30ml Golden syrup
  • 50g Butter/marge
  • 300g Soft brown sugar.
Method:

Pie crust:
  1. Put biscuits into a sealed bag, then crush to a fine crumble using a rolling pin.
  2. Melt butter in microwave, approximately 30seconds to a minute.
  3. Mix crushed biscuits and butter till completely combined.
  4. Pour into cake/pie tin and press down till even and flat.
  5. Refrigerate till set.
Pie filling:
  1. Preheat oven to 180degrees C
  2. Put chocolate,butter & golden syrup in a heat proof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water, but do not let the bowl actually touch the water.
  3. Leave till melted then take it off the heat and let it cool.
  4. Put eggs, sugar and vanilla into another bowl and stir with an electric mixer until well combined.
  5. Make sure the chocolate mixture is cool then add this to the egg mixture. If you do not let the chocolate mixture cool, you will scramble the eggs in the egg mixture. 
  6. Beat throughly till smooth.
  7. Pour onto pie crust then put into the oven for 30-40 minutes. check regularly to make sure it doesn't burn.
  8. Pie will be completely cooked when it is firm to touch but still has a slight wobble in the middle.
  9. Leave to cool completely then cover and refrigerate, for a minimum 3 hours.
  10. When ready to serve, whip your cream and spread on top of pie, 
  11. Then serve.
